It’s not quite as futuristic as an RGB mask or a rollable OLED gaming chair, but it’s about the best we can do in 2021. You can now get them with Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs built in. But it’s at least an interesting idea that solves a real problem for gamers without much extra space.įor gamers who are interested in something a little more tangible, Razer also recently announced upgrades for its Razer Blade 15 and Razer Blade Pro 17 gaming laptops. Since Project Brooklyn is just a concept, there’s no way to gauge how much it might cost, or when it might come out. Still, it’s not a ridiculous idea, and it certainly has a much more approachable design than the Thronos or - lest we forget - the terrifying scorpion chair. On the other hand, it relies on a lot of technology that isn’t available to consumers yet, and probably won’t be priced affordably for years to come. But Zephyr is no prototype - it's 99.99 and on sale now. In theory, it’s easy to see how Project Brooklyn might benefit gamers, particularly those who don’t have enough space for a full entertainment center or dedicated PC desk. Razer is releasing its Zephyr face mask today, following months of memes after its CES 2021 debut as Project Hazel. There are even RGB LED strips on the side of the Brooklyn, which can keep spectators entertained with colorful patterns. As you play games, the chair’s built-in haptics respond to what’s happening onscreen, like a full-body DualSense controller. A panoramic OLED screen rolls down from above. You lay out a bar in front of you, which supports a keyboard and a mouse. Here’s how it works: You sit in the chair, which looks and functions essentially like an Iskur. It’s essentially a gaming pod, like the gargantuan Acer Thronos, but with a much more restrained, minimalist design. "Razer will continue to develop this gaming chair concept, conducting testing with top esports athletes and influencers to benchmark feasibility, comfort and performance," the company The Project Brooklyn concept is intended to offer insights on how to improve user mechanics and design to deliver a more immersive gameplay experience and inspire Razer’s growing portfolio of gaming chairs in the near future. The more traditional Razer Concept from CES 2021 is Project Brooklyn, which combines a rollable OLED screen with the design from the Razer Iskur gaming chair. Like a true concept, Razer says that Project Brooklyn is more meant to inspire it as it builds more realistic chairs. Project Brooklyn also features LED lighting (of course), haptic feedback throughout the chair's frame, and modular armrests that can turn into a table for PC gaming. LG's rolling OLED TV actually exists, but that thing costs $87,000, and that's without trying to hide it inside of a chair. Sure, that enormous curved OLED looks cool, but it leans so far out into the fantastical that I can't really get too excited about it. It looks ripped right out of science fiction, the sort of thing that wouldn't be out of place in Ridley Scott's ill-fated Prometheus. (Well, aside from helping you go to the toilet.) The wildest element is its 60-inch curved OLED screen, which folds into the seat's back like a pair of wings. Building on its first chair, which debuted in October, Razer swung for the fences to design a seat that could solve all of your gaming needs. And then there's Project Brooklyn, which will likely never see the light of day.
